At Thrive Church Network, we love highlighting network partners who are making a difference in their communities. Recently, we had the chance to sit down with Dr. Tim Henderson for an interview about newly launched Barak TV, a Judeo-Christian internet based TV network, and are excited to share that interview with you today. TCN: Dr. Tim, thanks for taking a few minutes to talk with us today. We have literally been blown away at Thrive by the ministry venture you’ve recently launched. Internet based TV is so outside the box of traditional ministry opportunities for pastors of the local church. How did you get to where you are today?
DR. TIM: God literally brought me to a moment of life and death. On June 5th 2013, I was told I would die from cardio myopathy. Through the course of the following year, after undergoing open heart surgery and a miraculous touch from God, the Lord spared my life and led me to get behind the Christian network vision of one of my future partners. I, and several other investors, established SOON Entertainment, LLC which currently runs two brands; SOON TV and Barak TV.
TCN: God is so good - a new start on life, and job as CEO of an internet TV network.
DR. TIM: Yes! I am so thankful to the Lord! I was able to run a full marathon in 2014, and God has done exceedingly more than we could ask or imagine through Barak TV.
TCN: Could you tell us a little more about the network’s programming and how it works?
DR. TIM: Absolutely. Barak is the Hebrew word for praise. Literally translated it means to kneel before God in sweet adoration. While Barak studios are located in Sullivan, IL, we feature Judeo-Christian programming from around the world on ROKU, cross.tv, and YouTube. Our programming includes the award winning Contemporary Living movies, age-specific programming, Valley Forge chapel services and original shows exclusive to Barak TV.
TCN: And if I understand the mission of Barak TV correctly, there are opportunities for the local church and other Christian ministries to tap into the viewership of Barak TV as well, right?
DR. TIM: Yes. This is the piece that makes Barak TV so unique. We offer churches, Christian speakers, teachers, evangelists, and other program content providers a medium to air their services and programs for a very low subsidized cost. With the 24 hour a day, seven day a week worldwide viewership we have access to, we are able to connect quality Christian programming with people who will not otherwise meet Jesus and proclaim the Gospel to the Nations.
The impact we can have for Christ through Smart TVs and the Internet TV market is astounding. I am so thankful God has given me the opportunity to work with this ministry!
TCN: That is so exciting Dr. Tim. Thank you so much for sharing this incredible ministry opportunity with us.
